The World Academy Poetry, based in Verona, Italy, renewed for the third time unanimously the honorary presidency of poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain, who was elected as Emeritus President for the first time in 2011.
The Academy also renewed to Italian poet Patricia Martello as executive president.
Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation represented by Dr. Touhami Abdouli, co-organized with the Academy, its 16th celebration of the World Poetry Day in the Italian city of Verona and selected six Arab poets to participate in this celebration along with a number of Italian poets. The Arab poets were Mishaal Al Zuabi from Kuwait, Mohammed Ibrahim Yaqoub from Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Saqli and Sabah Eddebbi from Morocco, Abdulateef Al-Saadi from Iraq and Anis Shoushan from Tunisia.
The General Secretary of the Academy, Dr. Laura Troisi, said that the Academy, which poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain is the Emeritus President, was keen this year to confirm the international character by involving poets from different cultures.
Troisi referred to the growing cooperation with Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation and its prominent role in inter-cultural action.
She added that the unique language of poetry can motivate sources of human beauty and overcome walls of fear and division between peoples and cultures.
