‘Post 9/11 what changes went through the American and British media, how did this effect cross-cultural dialogue’

After September 11th the world changed, America and the coalition forces went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The media’s language changed, new vocabulary emerged reflect the clash of civilizations. What effect did this language have on public opinion?

New Media Means and Freedom of Speech

‘Freedom of speech, dialogue and differences in culture presented by the evolution of the media platform’

Blogs, web forums, chat rooms, the internet all are signs of the progression of the media model from print, to an interactive model. How does this effect dialogue between cultures, will cultures evolve with the media’s evolution?

‘Perceptions of Islam in the West and the West in Islam’

How the West perceives Islam as a religion, Muslims as people, and Islamic societies. How the Middle East, Islamic countries worldwide, perceive the West. How do the media contribute to these perceptions?

‘The role of journalistic organizations in fermenting dialogue between cultures’

Organizations like the NUJ  and F.C.C should assume a role in the clash of civilizations to ensure journalists do not have a negative effect through the media. What is the role of the foreign correspondent in times of peace and in war?

 Misrepresentations in the media and their effect on Dialogue between Civilizations

‘Misrepresentations in the media, where does the responsibility lie?

The responsibility of news corporations, newspapers, media outlets to provide fair, accurate and un-bias reporting in times of peace and war. What is the affect of the media being used as a propaganda engine, how does this affect chances of success in cross-cultural dialogue.

The Role of Dialogue in Solving International Crisis

‘Solutions in an ever changing world, are solutions possible through dialogue’

How can media play a role in furthering dialogue in the aim to have a solution for the clash of civilizations? (middle east  affairs, wars, etc….)         (studying special cases)
